Question: Depressing..dating site?

Why is that hundreds of people have applied to a dating site yet only 1 or 2 people have emailed me? I posted my pic on yahoo answers so people can rate me, and a lot of people said i look good. I feel that people are just feelign sorry for me, and they feel obligated to say something nice. If i was good looking, I would get lots of responses on the dating site.
