Instead of dating websites, you should go to malls or clubs where there are notice board with Personals on them. These are good starting points and the best thing about it is you can actually date there

The best legit one i can suggest is eharmony.com Yes you have to pay, OR you can sign up free and wait for people to communicate with you first but you won't be able to see any of their pictures. Little bit of advice if you don't already know... never give your credit card information to verify age... it's a scam and always will be a scam.
