Question: Is online dating really worth it? and does it work?

I know Yahoo has an online dating thing, but I don't know it just seems like...awkward I guess? I know that there have been people out there who have actually found their husband/ wife with online dating, but that's like what, one in a thousand? I guess overall what I am saying is, would it really be worth it to try to make an online dating profile and actually try? I sound kind of emo there "Why try " right? But Honestly, I just feel like it would maybe make me seem desperate or something..I mean I am just about at the "desperate line " but I don't know maybe I am just talking nonsense..any tips?

I think it really can work. I feel it is best if you get to know the person as friends first though, if you can have amazing in depth conversations over the internet, it can only be better in person. I had been speaking to a guy who lives 3 hours from me in a different country for about a year, i met up with him a month ago, and i have never felt such a strong connection with someone. In a way it is easier to get to know someone over the internet as there is none of that awkwardness, having to go out on dates, you can just casually get to know one another. I reckon it is worth the try, there is someone out there for you and they could be thinking the same thing. You have nothing to lose by creating a profile. Go for it!

Tried it once... Met this girl who eventually told me she's married. Almost did her, but I couldn't be a home wrecker. So yeah be careful. Women who use online are either really busy or just out of options.

I met my husband on Match.com in 2002. It worked for me! Of course, we did that actual "work " ourselves. Match.com just helped us meet.

Okay I did the online dating meet some decent people. Then two and half years ago I met the guy i have waited my whole life for. I took it very slow and I am glad I did. Well not that slow but slow enough where we go to know each other and know we are planning our wedding. Also my brother met he's wife online it's not as bad as it once was. The biggest piece of advice I can give you is be honest put a recent picture of yourself. And people will lie to believe it or not so ask a lot of questions talk to the person on the phone first just be yourself.

I spent 3 years on plentyoffish.com i went in one day to delete my acct. and this guy emailed me on there....i cussed him out told him all men were the same and where to shove it.......we are now engaged so yes it worked for me we are now living together he is the best stepdad for my kids i could ever hope for

The best way to think of online dating is simply as a pool of numbers. For most people in this busy world, how do you meet people? By heading down to the local pub? Online dating gives you access to women who are no longer attracted to that sort of thing, who are generally of higher quality (I'm 26 and moved beyond the club scene so take that into consideration). Your profile should honestly present yourself as the person that you are. If you spend more than 3 e-mails "chatting " before you meet up, or If you live more than 50 km away then you are probably wasting your time. Online dating is definitely a valuable tool in your arsenal to meet that special someone.
